Shoulder Pain
Description
Shoulder pain can be caused by inflammation and dysfunction of the structures around the shoulder joint such as: shoulder bursitis, shoulder tendonitis, impingement syndrome or rotator cuff muscles and their tendons.
Differential Diagnosis
It is also possible that shoulder pain can be felt from a problem elsewhere in the body such as: neck, nerve, upper back and even the diaphragm !
Causes
The anatomy of the ball and socket joint with the movements of the shoulder blade and collar bone make the shoulder an extremely complex system. Therefore the shoulder is very sensitive to abnormal loads and tensions.
Repetitive actions and poor muscle control can contribute to the formation of shoulder pain.
Treatment
If you are troubled by shoulder pain let one of the Chartered Physiotherapists at East Cliff Therapy Centre thoroughly assess your symptoms. We will be able to offer a clinical diagnosis as to the site and cause of your problem and help formulate an action plan to alleviate the symptoms.
This may include formal physiotherapy treatment with a specifically tailored rehabilitation exercise programme to help you return to full function
